Monique is a New York native who relocated to Florida from the northeast to join Butterfly Effects as a BCBA and Senior Consultant in January 2016, servicing the South Florida and Palm Beach County region.
Monique earned her Master’s Degree in Applied Psychology, summa cum laude, from Sacred Heart University located in Fairfield, CT in 2012 and her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Psychology, cum laude, in 2006 from Northeastern University located in Boston, MA. In pursuit of her BCBA certification, she completed her certification in Advanced Applied Behavior Analysis from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2012.
During her ABA studies, Monique completed practicum opportunities in various clinical, educational and home-based settings which offered multidisciplinary approaches including Speech and Language services, Occupational Therapy services and Physical Therapy services. This type of training has shaped her holistic and team oriented approach to treatment which greatly benefits each of her clients.
As a BCBA, Monique’s expertise is focused primarily upon naturalistic approaches such as Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), as well as Functional Communication Training (FCT). Monique is also skilled at implementing procedures related to Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Differential Reinforcement, and the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
