a difference for your family.

What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically proven method of therapy utilized in improving or changing targeted behaviors in individuals affected by autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It teaches an individual how to break down complicated tasks into simpler and smaller steps. This evidence-based type of therapy has been shown to improve communication, social and behavioral skills.

Is ABA therapy a long-term commitment?

Each ABA therapy plan is tailored for the individual in need of services. Current studies have shown that children with ASD who receive intensive ABA services for years make significant gains across many different areas. Focused ABA treatment consists of therapeutic programming that lasts approximately 10-25 hours and works on just a few specific domains.

Should my child’s ABA therapy be done at home?

ABA therapy services are provided in the home, at school, within the community and in clinic settings. Most children in need of these services are best served at home, in school and in their communities. This allows for maladaptive behaviors to be treated more efficiently, since they are able to be addressed while the child is in his/her natural environment.

How does ABA therapy correct maladaptive behaviors?

ABA services can benefit your child if he/she has social, communication, adaptive living or behavior deficits that greatly affect the ability to function and to interact with the world independently from day to day. Your child’s treatment will be designed to specifically address the skills that are most important to your family.
