Learn more about ABA therapy in
Pearland and how it can make
a difference for your family.

How does ABA therapy work?

Applied behavioral analysis, or ABA therapy, is an empirical method of correcting behavioral problems in children by breaking down complex tasks into small, instructional steps that they can understand. ABA therapy has been used successfully to improve skills in communication, social interactions, following directions, increasing an attention span, waiting, and asking for help.

How long does it take for the entire ABA therapy?

Each child is unique and since their ABA therapy is tailored to their needs, the duration of their treatment will be governed by their needs. Research and experience have shown that, usually, an ABA therapy regimen that lasts between one and three years provides the best long-term outcome. Focused programs provide 10 to 25 hours of treatment in fewer domains.

Will my child have their sessions in a clinic?

ABA therapy can be performed in a clinical setting, but experience has shown that therapy provided in the home, at school or a community setting may be more effective. These settings enable the child to learn in familiar environments, which are the locations of many of the maladaptive behaviors. It also enables the child to learn independent interaction within their most-frequented environments.

Is ABA therapy guaranteed to help my child?

Although most children can be helped with ABA therapy, there is no guarantee of its success. ABA therapy teaches your child the ability to independently function within their natural surroundings, and improves their skill levels in socially significant areas. If your child needs to improve their social skills, adaptive living skills, behavioral skills and communication skills, then ABA therapy should help them achieve those goals.
