Individualized Education Program (IEP) Support

An Individualized Education Program (IEP) supports the family’s goals in providing specialized instruction, either group or individual, inside or outside the classroom. If the school allows, we can provide our treatment plan to support strategies that will help our clients succeed in the school setting.

Your child’s IEP team will typically include you, as the parent or caregiver, as well as the general education teacher, a school administrator such as the principal, a special education teacher, and a school psychologist. An occupational therapist and counselor may also be part of the team.

Regular meetings will take place to monitor the student’s progress. If allowed, we will support the family by providing our treatment plan.

We can also bridge the gap between home therapies and those provided at the school. This may include written documentation to support recommendations, or even video of your child working on successful approaches that may be applied in the classroom.

For those schools willing to partner with us, our joint goal will be to create a plan that supports services to ensure your child receives the most appropriate level of education for his or her age. This may require accommodations such as a change in classroom seating or the way educational material is presented. It all depends on the individual student.

Together with you and the school, we’ll work to ensure your student with Autism receives the right accommodations for an appropriate education–one ideally suited to her or his skill level.
