Butterfly Effects is inviting parents, local businesses, organizations, and community partners to help us create fun, welcoming, sensory-friendly Halloween experiences for children and families. Hosting a trunk is a great way to connect with local families, introduce your organization to the community, and help make Halloween more accessible and enjoyable for children of all abilities. There is no cost to host a trunk. Bring your creativity, decorate your vehicle in a family-friendly theme, and join us for a memorable community event.

What Does It Mean to Host a Trunk?

Participating organizations decorate the trunk or back of a vehicle and create a fun stop for children and families as they make their way through the event. Your trunk can be as simple or creative as you'd like! Choose a family-friendly theme, decorate your space, and greet families as they visit. Depending on the event, hosts may also choose to provide: Candy or individually wrapped treats Stickers, fidget toys, or other non-food goodies A simple game or activity Branded giveaways appropriate for children and families

A Sensory-Friendly Approach

Butterfly Effects events are designed to give children and families the flexibility to participate their way. Some children may be excited to visit every trunk, while others may prefer to watch from a distance, skip an activity, or take a break. We ask our participating trunk hosts to help us create a welcoming, low-pressure experience for every family. Non-food options are encouraged to give families more ways to participate and enjoy the experience. When planning your trunk, please keep decorations and activities family-friendly and appropriate for young children. Avoid overly scary, violent, startling, or frightening decorations and activities.
