What is ABA therapy?
ABA therapy, also called applied behavior analysis, is an empirical method for changing maladaptive behaviors in children who have been diagnosed with ASD. ABA therapy is successful because it teaches the children how to reduce complex tasks into easily achievable steps so that they can accomplish a task. ABA therapy is the most successful in areas such as communicating needs, asking for help, completing a task, waiting, and making friends.
Learn moreWhat's the program length for ABA therapy?
The length of time needed for the ABA therapy program will be determined by the skill level of the child, their level of development, and the degree of their maladaptive behaviors. Usually, a program duration of between one and three years has proved to have the best long-term results. Focused ABA treatments can target specific areas with between 10 and 25 hours of therapy.
