Belle Chasse and how it can make
a difference for your family.
What behaviors does ABA therapy correct?
Applied behavioral analysis, or ABA therapy, is an evidence-based method for improving specific behaviors in children who have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, or ASD. It's effective because it teaches children to reduce complex tasks to small, easily achievable steps, thereby enabling the child to complete a task, increasing their self-confidence and self-esteem.
Learn moreWho determines the length of my child's ABA therapy?
Your child will be evaluated by a therapist to determine the degree of treatment needed, and the resulting treatment plan will be based on your child's current level of social skills and their degree of maladaptive behaviors. Extensive research indicates that a program duration of between one to three years delivers the most comprehensive results that last for the longest time. Targeted programs of between 10 and 25 hours focus on specific areas that need the most improvement.
Learn moreWhere does my child need to go for ABA therapy?
ABA therapy is usually conducted in the child's natural environments, including the home, at school, or in the community, but it is also occasionally conducted in a clinical setting. When conducted in familiar settings, such as the home, school, or community, the child has the broadest options for developing independent interaction skills within their environment.
Learn moreIs ABA therapy effective for all children?
ABA therapy is successful for children who have maladaptive behaviors in the areas of communication, social skills, and adaptive living that negatively impact their daily independent function within their environment. ABA therapy is effective for most children who have been diagnosed with ASD.
