Learn more about ABA therapy in
Chula Vista and how it can make
a difference for your family.
What is ABA therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the most widely used method for motivating children with autism spectrum disorder to increase language communication, social skills and other life skills. ABA therapy's aim is to help children reach their full potential. ABA programs are unique, depending on your child's age, challenges and strengths. Therapists customize ABA programs to reward children for learning new skills, focusing on one step at a time.
Learn moreHow long will my child be in ABA therapy?
All children are unique, but most benefit from therapy lasting from one to three years. Early intervention, before your child is four, appears to have the best results. Many therapists recommend therapy from 10 to 20 hours a week in a 1:1 setting.
Learn moreCan I have ABA therapy for my child in my home?
There is home-based, center-based and school-based ABA therapy. Home-based therapy allows the therapist to work on skills the child will use at home, such as getting ready for bed. School-based therapy allows your child to learn how to interact with classmates and teachers. Center-based therapy helps your child learn structure or any number of skills. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects many areas of a child's life, so therapy in a variety of locations is often ideal.
Learn moreWhat advantages will my child gain with ABA therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis therapy helps reinforce good behavior and extinguish undesirable behaviors. You can have your child learn new skills, better eating behaviors and increased communication skills. What your child learns will depend on their age and abilities. Your child will gain self-confidence as he or she gains independence.
