a difference for your family.
What is ABA therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA for short) is a method of evidence-based therapy that is utilized in the improvement or changing of certain behaviors. ABA therapy educates children with behavioral disorders how to break down complicated, multi-step tasks into smaller, more discrete instructional steps. This therapeutic method has successfully assisted in teaching patients important life skills such as how to make friends, communicating needs, waiting, asking for assistance, following instructions, performing a task, and much more.
Learn moreHow long does ABA therapy take to have an impact?
ABA therapy is most often utilized with children who are affected by autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This therapy is a highly individualized method of treatment. Research into the area has indicated that children receiving intensive services for a period of 1-3 years make significant gains across several skill domains. More focused treatment programs frequently offer around 10-25 hours of ABA services that work on a limited number of skill domains.
Learn moreCan ABA therapy be done at home?
This type of therapy can be completed in a clinic, at home, in school or within the community. Studies conducted in this area have indicated that the most effective way of providing ABA therapy is within the child’s natural environment. This allows maladaptive behaviors to be addressed as they happen, and for skills to be taught in the places where they are most needed.
