a difference for your family.

What Is meant by ABA therapy?

Applied behavior analysis, or ABA therapy, is an empirical method for improving maladaptive behaviors in children who have behavior deficits such as autism spectrum disorders. The program works by reducing complex tasks into small, achievable, and easily understood steps that enable the child to accomplish the entire task. It's been proven to improve communication skills, the ability to make friends, follow directions, and practice patience.

Does ABA therapy take a long time to be effective?

Each child is individually evaluated to determine their skill level in various areas. Their treatment program is based on their individual needs, so there's no preset time constraint, it's based on the child. Research and experience have indicated that the most effective treatment lasts from one to three years over multiple areas. Focused treatments are also effective. They provide between 10 and 25 hours of targeted ABA therapy on limited areas.

Can my child complete ABA therapy at home?

Although ABA therapy can be performed in a clinical setting, it's usually best when done in natural settings such as the home or classroom or community. This enables the child to learn adaptive behaviors in familiar environments and in situations that may be unique to them. It also increases their ability to learn interactive behaviors within new environments.

Will ABA therapy definitely help my child’s behavior?

ABA therapy has been proven repeatedly to be effective for children with maladaptive behaviors, particularly in the areas of communication skills, adaptive living, social, and behavioral issues.
