Garden Grove and how it can make
a difference for your family.

What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is not a one-size-fits-all therapy for children with autism. It is highly individualized, where the child's needs and family preferences determine what behaviors and skills the therapy addresses. ABA uses positive reinforcement to teach children new skills. As a child completes a step in a task, he or she will get a small reward. After a time, the child will complete all the steps and not need a reward to complete the task.

How long will ABA therapy take to show results?

Children who are in therapy for up to 30 hours a week for up to three years have the best outcomes. The length of a child's therapy will depend on the behaviors and skills they need to work on, their current abilities and the progress they make as therapy progresses.

Does in-home ABA therapy have any advantages over therapy in a center?

The advantage of in-home therapy is that your child learns skills he or she can use every day at home. They can also learn behaviors to make interacting with the family easier. Older children may benefit from therapy at a center where they can get used to going outside the home to learn.

What benefits do young children receive from ABA therapy?

Young children can learn language skills, social awareness and other skills they will need when they start school. They can learn how to brush their teeth, get dressed and other skills that will make it easier for them to get ready every morning to face the day with confidence.
