a difference for your family.
How does ABA therapy help behaviors?
Many children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have been able to significantly improve or change specific behaviors common with the disorder through the use of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. This evidence-based therapeutic method teaches patients how to distill complicated tasks into several smaller steps that are easier to complete. It allows individuals with autism to successfully learn how to communicate needs, wait, follow instructions, ask for help, make friends and successfully complete a variety of tasks.
Learn moreDoes ABA therapy require many hours to have an impact?
Patients in need of intensive services experience the best results across multiple skill areas when they receive services for a period of one to three years. Focused ABA treatment services consist of programs of 10-25 hours that teach a limited number of skills specifically targeted to the individual’s unique needs.
Learn moreWhere is the best location for ABA therapy?
ABA therapy services make the biggest impact when they are provided within a patient’s home, school or community. This allows for the individual to learn skills and how to apply them within his or her natural environment. Maladaptive behaviors are addressed as they occur within the environment, making it more likely that the child will learn how to successfully cope with the behavior when therapy has concluded.
