Hayward and how it can make
a difference for your family.

What is ABA therapy?

Positive reinforcement is the guiding principle behind Applied Behavior Analysis therapy. Good behavior, such as learning a skill or interacting nicely with other children, is rewarded. The child is then more likely to repeat the behavior instead of an undesirable behavior. It is ideal for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as they have a more difficult time learning.

How long will my child be in ABA therapy?

The therapy duration is tailored to your child's unique needs. Most children have therapy for one to three years, with 10 to 30 hours of instruction each week. If your child only needs to work on highly targeted skills, he or she may only have 10 hours of therapy each week. Skilled therapists customize programs, taking into account the child's existing skills, family preferences and the progress they see.

Is in-home ABA therapy a good choice for my child?

In-home therapy is often convenient for busy families, but it's also beneficial for children. If your child needs to learn skills like getting dressed each morning, it is much easier for them to learn this skill at home, where they have access to their clothes and shoes. In-center and school learning also have their advantages. Sometimes, children have therapy in multiple locations throughout the course of their treatment.
