Katy and how it can make
a difference for your family.

What exactly is ABA therapy?

Applied behavior analysis, or ABA therapy, is an empirical method of changing specific behaviors in children who have developmental disorders. ABA therapy breaks down complicated tasks into simpler steps that are easy to follow. This enables the children to improve their social skills and their ability to independently interact with their environments.

How quickly does the ABA therapy program usually work?

Since each program is tailored to the specific needs of the child, there's no general time frame for children to complete the program. Research and experience have shown that ABA therapy is most effective when the program lasts between one and three years and uses multiple domains. Focused ABA treatments provide between 10 and 25 hours of therapy and address a limited number of domains.

Can ABA therapy be done at home?

ABA therapy is often most effective when done in the natural environments of the home, community, or school. The child learns best in their natural environment, which is usually the location for most of their maladaptive behaviors. This also enables the child to develop interactive behaviors that are specific to their lifestyle.

How will ABA therapy be of benefit to my child?

If your child has maladaptive behavior deficits that impede their ability to function in daily life, then ABA therapy may be of benefit. The objective of ABA therapy is to increase your child's independent interaction with their environments, and improve their abilities in the areas of communication, adaptive living, and social settings. Achieving goals that are important to both the family and the child is the goal of ABA therapy.
