Learn more about ABA therapy in
LaPlace and how it can make
a difference for your family.

Why ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis, also called ABA, is a highly effective method of treatment that can assist children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in learning how to improve or change certain behaviors. This evidence-based therapy educates individuals in breaking down complicated tasks into smaller, simpler steps that are easier for them to accomplish. It has been proven to assist in helping children with autism learn how to communicate their needs, make friends, wait, follow instructions, ask for help and perform tasks.

Does my child need to attend ABA therapy for long?

Intensive ABA therapeutic services have the most effective results when they are pursued for a period of at least one to three years. This time period allows the child to make significant gains across multiple different skill areas. Focused ABA therapeutic services feature programming that is given over a period of between 10 and 25 hours. These services focus on a few targeted skill domains to be mastered throughout the course of treatment.

Can ABA therapy be done at home?

While ABA therapy can be done in a clinic, most providers recommend that it be done while in a child’s home, school or community. This allows problems to be addressed as they occur within the natural environment. It also makes it easier for the child to apply the skills he or she learns more effectively.
