Learn more about ABA therapy in
Leander and how it can make
a difference for your family.
Who can be helped by ABA therapy?
Applied behavior analysis, or ABA therapy, helps children who have developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It teaches children how to function by breaking down complex tasks into small, easily achievable steps that enable the child to improve their behaviors in areas such as communication, asking for help, following directions, making friends, and waiting.
Learn moreWhat's the duration of the ABA therapy program?
Each child is evaluated individually and then their ABA therapy program is designed specifically to meet their objectives. Data and experience indicate that programs lasting between one and three years are the most successful when using multiple domains. Focused ABA treatment programs provide between 10 and 25 hours of therapy on specific areas that are targeted for improvement.
Learn moreWhere is ABA therapy conducted?
Often, ABA therapy is conducted in the home, the school, or the community. Although, clinical settings are also used. Using their natural environment is frequently more efficient because the child learns adaptive behavior in settings that are familiar to them and are most frequently the location of maladaptive behavior. These types of settings provide more opportunities to learn daily living skills that may be specific to the child's lifestyle.
Learn moreDoes ABA therapy always help children with behavioral deficits?
If your child has maladaptive behaviors in the areas of social skills, communication, or a certain environment, then ABA therapy can improve their ability to independently interact with their environment. The objective of ABA therapy is to improve your child's skills in social adaptation and other goals that are important to your child and your family.
