Learn more about ABA therapy in
Livermore and how it can make
a difference for your family.

What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy teaches children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) appropriate skills and helps reduce problem behaviors. Therapists break down new skills into small, manageable steps and offer a small reward that the child will enjoy each time they master a step. Positive reinforcement encourages children to master the skill and perform it in the future when asked.

How long does applied behavioral analysis therapy typically last?

For a child over age three, 25 to 30 hours a week is typical. A child younger than three may have less hours of therapy. Most programs last from one to three years, but this depends on your child. Factors which affect the length of therapy include your child's abilities and their progress.

Can an ABA therapist come to my home?

ABA therapists offer in-home therapy, in addition to working at centers and at schools. You need to set aside a space for therapy to take place, but you and your family don't have to hide or leave the house. Your therapist will benefit from seeing the child's natural environment. You can discretely observe, but don't interrupt. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask after the session ends.
