What is ABA therapy?
ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis. ABA therapy is an evidence-based method that focuses on teaching children with developmental and behavioral disorders, such as autism spectrum disorders (ASD), how to break down complicated tasks into smaller steps. Is ABA therapy going to take a long time?
The length of time that ABA therapy takes depends on the individual needs of the child. Recent research shows that children receiving intensive ABA therapy services for one to three years make significant long-term gains across multiple skill areas. ABA treatment can be done in a clinic setting. It can also be done at home, at school or within the community. Research has shown that ABA treatment provided in a home, school or community-based setting is more effective.
