Miramar and how it can make
a difference for your family.
The basics of ABA therapy
ABA, or applied behavior analysis, is a type of therapy that applies the principles of positive reinforcement and learning to increase behaviors like communication, language, attention, and social skills while reducing behaviors that are maladaptive. It's increasingly used as a therapeutic intervention for autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and is backed by years of scientific research. ABA therapy works by breaking things down into smaller, more achievable steps.
Learn moreHow long does ABA therapy take?
Through significant research conducted on ABA, we've learned that delivering intensive ABA services for at least one to three years provides the most positive treatment outcomes for children with ASD. The majority of treatment programs provide 10-25 hours of ABA services that are designed to target a limited number of behaviors. An ABA therapist will develop a customized treatment plan that works with your child's current skill level.
Learn moreAre there home-based services for ABA therapy?
Most ABA programs are designed to accommodate a variety of settings, including the community, home, school, or clinic. Typically, therapy provided in the natural environment (school, home, community) is the most effective at teaching skills of daily living. In this way, children have more opportunities to learn and apply the skills and behaviors they've learned to the real world.
Learn moreHow can ABA therapy help children?
One of the main goals of ABA therapy is to help children develop the skills needed to function within their natural environment in a healthy manner. Therapists work with children to develop a unique treatment program that addresses goals that are important to the child and the child’s family.
