a difference for your family.

What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is an evidence-based form of therapy that is designed to improve or change behaviors in children affected with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This method consists of teaching a child through breaking down complicated processes into smaller, more discrete steps. This method has been utilized to assist children with ASD in communicating needs, developing friendships, waiting, asking for assistance, following directions and attending to tasks.

How long will ABA therapy take?

Significant research on ABA indicates that intensive ABA services for a period of one to three years will allow for a child to make significant gains across different domains. Focused treatment often includes programs delivering 10-25 hours of services. These services focus on a limited range of targets to improve upon.

Should ABA therapy be done at a clinic?

ABA services are provided at home, in school, within the community or in a clinic. The most efficient way of delivering these services is within the home, school and community settings. This is because the maladaptive behaviors being addressed will be occurring in the child’s natural environment, allowing for the teaching of daily living skills to be those that are most needed.

Can ABA therapy help my child?

ABA therapy helps children with communication, social, adaptive living and behavior deficits that make it difficult for them to function daily, as well as interact independently in their natural environment. These services are individualized to target goals that are within your child’s current skill level.
