Round Rock and how it can make
a difference for your family.
Which types of issues will ABA therapy help?
The objective of applied behavior analysis, or ABA therapy, is to improve maladaptive behaviors in children who have behavioral disorders. Complicated tasks are reduced to small, instructional steps that the child can understand, and thus learn to improve skills in communicating their needs, making friends, asking for help, waiting, following directions, and paying attention.
Learn moreWhat's the duration of an ABA therapy program?
Each ABA therapy program is tailored to the child, so the duration of the program will be specific to them. However, research and experience have proven that programs lasting from one to three years are the most successful over time and work for multiple areas of improvement. Focused ABA therapy plans can provide 10 to 25 hours of treatment on a few targeted areas that need improvement.
Learn moreWhere is ABA therapy conducted?
Often, ABA therapy is conducted in a familiar environment such as the home, school or the community, but it can also be conducted in a clinical setting. Since maladaptive behaviors most often occur at the child’s home, school or community, those settings provide the greatest opportunity for improvements. They also provide the opportunity to learn independent interaction with situations that are specific to the child or their lifestyle.
Learn moreWill ABA therapy really help fix my child's inappropriate behaviors?
ABA therapy is helpful for children with developmental disorders, specifically autism spectrum disorders, and it has a history of success. Children learn to function within the constraints of their environment and in situations that are important to the child and their family. Both the child and their family achieve a better quality of life with ABA therapy.
