What to know about ABA therapy
ABA, also known as applied behavior analysis, is a therapeutic approach based on the principles of learning and behavior that can help children who have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or behavioral disorders. It's supported by scientific studies and is used to improve or change a variety of maladaptive behaviors, such as attention, focus, communication, and interpersonal relationships, among other skills.
Learn moreWhat is the duration of ABA therapy?
The specific behaviors needing modification, the child’s current skill level and age are all factors taken into consideration when designing an ABA therapy program. Intensive programs providing services over a time period of one to three years show the most significant improvement in children with ASD, according to research. Other programs typically focus on a specific number of behaviors needing modification and children are provided with 10-25 hours of therapy.
Learn moreWhere can ABA therapy services be provided?
Therapists provide ABA therapy in a variety of locations, including at home, school, in the community or in a clinic-based setting. Since ABA services are designed to help children with ASD use their new skills in situations outside of the therapy setting, it's the most effective when administered at school, in the community or at home.
Learn moreWhat is the goal of ABA therapy?
