Tampa and how it can make
a difference for your family.
What is ABA therapy?
ABA, also known as applied behavior analysis, can change or improve specific maladaptive behaviors in children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ABA has the support of numerous research studies and works by teaching children to break down complicated tasks into smaller steps. Improving social skills, following directions, and communicating needs and emotions are examples of the behaviors that can be improved with ABA therapy.
Learn moreHow long will my child be in ABA therapy?
Researchers have discovered that receiving intensive ABA services for at least one to three years produces the most significant results for children with ASD. Most ABA services focus on a limited number of behaviors to improve and provide 10-25 hours of ABA services. How long your child requires ABA services depends on numerous factors, including the age of the patient and the specific goals you and your child would like to achieve.
Learn moreCan ABA therapy be provided at home?
ABA programs can be provided in many different environments, including at home, community, school or clinical settings. Since the primary goal of most ABA programs is to help children function appropriately in their natural environment, offering therapy at home, in school, or within the community typically results in long-lasting, positive outcomes. In this way, ABA therapy can teach daily living skills within the child’s natural environment.
Learn moreAre there advantages to ABA therapy?
If your child has deficits in communication skills, social skills or difficulties with focus and attention, he or she may significantly improve these behaviors with ABA services. Therapists specializing in ABA therapy can help children with ASD learn the skills needed to increase independence and improve overall quality of life as they transition into life as an adult.
