Learn more about ABA therapy in
Zebulon and how it can make
a difference for your family.

What's the definition of ABA therapy?

ABA therapy stands for applied behavior analysis, and it's a clinically proven method of improving behaviors in children with developmental conditions including autism spectrum disorder, or ASD. ABA therapy reduces a complicated task into small, readily achievable tasks that the child can learn. It's useful in areas such as communication, asking for help, improving the attention span, and following instructions.

What's the duration of an ABA therapy program?

Each child is unique, so each child will have a program that's tailored to their specific needs. Research has shown that an intensive, multi-disciplinary ABA program that lasts from 1-3 years is the most effective for children with ASD. Focused treatment delivers from 10 to 25 hours of ABA services that concentrate on a few areas that need the most improvement.

Is at-home ABA therapy available?

ABA therapy can be conducted in a clinical setting, but treatment in the home, school, or community often provides a broader spectrum of behaviors that need improvement, since they're the natural environment. Research has shown that these types of settings may be more efficient at overall behavioral change.

Will ABA therapy improve my child's behavior?

If your child has behavior deficits that include adaptive living, communication, and social skills issues, then ABA may be able to increase their level of daily function. It may also enable them to be more independently interactive with those around them. ABA therapy aims to increase your child's skill levels by using programs that are individually tailored to their daily life and lifestyle.
